On the Ropes. A Survey of Basel’s Media Art Tradition

The survey will examine the long tradition of media art initiatives and policies in Basel which emerged in dialogue with the film and video art scene in the late 1970s.

Lecture within Media Intersections.

Media Intersections is a collaborative project between WRO Art Center, House of Electronic Arts (Basel), and RIXC Center (Riga) supported by the Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia in the framework of the Cooperations 2012—2013 program.

Media Intersections project during WRO 2013 includes installations by Aline Veillat, Michel Winterberg, Denis Handschin, the RIXC group and a lecture by Doris Gassert.

Doris Gassert is research assistant at the House of Electronic Arts Basel. She holds a Ph.D. in media studies from the University of Basel.
